Had to fix our fuel pump on our Chevy Astro van with 270,000 miles on it. We didn't realize it was the pump for quite some time. On the faulty pump, we left for Minnesota from California, then left for Jacksonville, Arkansas where a mechanic looked at the van and thought it was fixed, then travelling to South Carolina, then back to Minnesota. Leaving minnesota for Chicago, then back to Minnesota, and then leaving for California again still on the faulty fuel pump. After several trips back to the service mechanic, the pump was finally found to be bad. Was quoted $800.00 to replace. Bought pump from ebay for 180.00, and replaced myself (3 days).
I really thank the Lord for keeping us safe as we drove thousands of miles on the same faulty fuel pump with no break downs especially in the middle of "no-where". PRAISE BE TO GOD!!!
God has showed us time and time again that he not only encourages mom and dad, but he also likes to encourage the children also especially as we drive between meetings covering hundred of miles. We had stopped at a restaurant on the way to Jacksonville, Arkansas one morning after driving all night. And a couple hefty looking men pulled up pulling a horse trailer with a very huge horse in it. And asked if the kids would like to ride the horse? As they made their way into the restaurant for a minute, the kids still looked shocked or maybe a little scared of the thought of riding something that big. After mom answered "sure" and a little prodding, in minutes they were on the horse riding and having fun in the restaurant parking lot. I guess the horse needed a little break with all the riding also. I guess God is good to all including missionary kids on the road.
