The following post is from Vanessa Fasinro about our prayers for missionaries and a prayer system that opens our eyes as Christians to the needs that missionaries face while on the field. This post was written some time ago, but it has been reposted here.

Many have asked what to pray for as missionaries. There is so much to pray for from time to time. From needing more support, to needing a reliable 4X4 in Nigeria for Evangelistic travels, to getting a shipping container full of our belongings to the field, to having  the Lord keep the kids healthy. My husband  picked up a prayer “system” at a church we were visiting that will make it very easy to remember to pray for us as well as other missionaries that are on your prayer list. I hope this will help. Thank you again for your faithful prayers.

The Great Commission has been called the great omission because it isn’t taken seriously by many who call themselves Christians. But it could also be called the “great omission” because of what is sometimes left out of Christ’s last command. Jesus not only told us to evangelize all nations, but He also said to disciple new believers. Teaching new believers the doctrines of the Word of God is as much the Great Commission as is the preaching of the Gospel. The word teaching found in the command and the word doctrine are very closely related. As soon as a person is saved, it’s our responsibility to nourish the believer with the great doctrines of God’s Word.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9

I believe that every church should have organized soulwinning opportunities for its members to participate in. It is an excellent way to provide hands-on training for new or inexperienced soulwinners. Read the rest of this entry »

Newsletter – Fall 2007

Greetings,

Praise the Lord we have officially closed this wonderful chapter of Deputation!  After 2 years of being on deputation, we were able to see over 250 saved,  raise much needed support, and trusting that the other churches will support us as well. In our last newsletter, we gave a list of things we needed for the mission field. Many churches and individuals have given towards those needs. I want to take this time to thank you for your sacrificial giving.  We are still praying and trusting the Lord for the provision to ship our container at the end of January which is also our new departing date.

The Lord gave me an opportunity to travel to pick up some used printed materials for the ministries in Nigeria. I was able to get 500 hymnals, several books, and bibles. We are also thankful for the 1000 Bibles donated by BEAMS Ministries. We are still in need of used books like concordances, good commentaries, and dictionaries that you no longer have need of. The Nigerian pastors will greatly appreciate any of the study materials that we are able to gather because  printed materials are hard to come by.

Dear Preacher,This is brother John Justwell Abili a bondslave of Jesus Christ. I got your letter dated 9th May, 2007 on the 11th May, 2007. I am highly excited to hear from you especially national preachers of Independent Baptist Churches who share the same burden that I have for my people Nigerians…… Brother Yinka, the area we might need your help if possible is printed materials. Our library,  Bible Institute Students and myself we need books. Books or materials on sound doctrine do not easily come by here in Nigeria.

Dear Mr. Yinka,

Calvary greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ Amen.We are doing very well at Fundamental Bible Baptist Church Jikwoi FCT Abuja.Pastor Holmes told me about your visit, but I was unable to meet with you. We will really be glad to have you come to visit our young, but very bold church. Do let us know the next time you hope to visit.  So far, I think you are the first and only Independent Baptist Evangelist in Nigeria . We will be praying and looking forward to seeing you.

The above are 2 of the letters we have received from Nigerian pastors. Please continue to pray for us as we begin to load our container and  prepare for  our January Departure.

Thank you again for your prayers and financial support as missionaries.

Ev. Yinka Fasinro….your missionary family to Nigeria
